Narendra Modi Bengal Visit: Mamata Banerjee meets PM at Raj Bhavan

While addressing a public meeting 'Vijay Sankalp Maharally' in Dhanbad district on Friday, PM Modi exuded confidence that BJP will will win over 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, reported news agency PTI.

."Abki bar 400 par (this time we will win over 400 seats) in the Lok Sabha polls as the country is relying on Modi's guarantee... Wherever I go I hear this chant. Where all hopes from others end, Modi's guarantee begins," the prime minister said.

While addressing a public gathering in the Khunkul area of West Bengal's Hooghly district on Friday, PM Modi hit out at Trinamool Congress (TMC) . He said that TMC regards him as its 'enemy no. 1' because "Modi does not allow them to pursue their own whims, and that's why TMC considers Modi their primary adversary," reported news agency ANI.

"The TMC, in West Bengal, has introduced a new 'model' of corruption and crimes. They are encouraging corruption and crimes. Not only this, but the TMC leaders make a lot of money in exchange of extending protection to criminals. The TMC has done scams in appointment of Primary School teachers, hasn't it?" he said.

“I am here as part of a courtesy protocol. It is a protocol that if Prime Minister or President visits the state, Chief Minister has to meet them. Whatever I have to say, I will do it in a political meeting, this meeting was not political,” said West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee (@MamataOfficial) after meeting PM Modi at Raj Bhavan in Kolkata, as quoted by news agency PTI.

Stressing the importance of making India a developed nation by 2047, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that India is one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world today and highlighted the economic statistics for the latest quarter that emerged yesterday.

Addressing a public rally in Dhanbad's Sindri, PM Modi underlined that the growth rate of 8.4 percent registered during the financial quarter from October to December 2023 showcases India's growing potential and fast-paced development towards realising the goal of Viksit Bharat.

Developed at a cost of more than ₹8,900 crore, the Sindri fertiliser plant is a step towards self-sufficiency in the urea sector.

It will add about 12.7 LMT per annum of indigenous urea production in the country, benefiting the farmers of the country. This is the third fertiliser plant to be revived in the country, after the revival of fertiliser plants at Gorakhpur and Ramagundam, which were also dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister in December 2021 and November 2022, respectively.

PM Modi said in Dhanbad, "In the last 10 years, we have worked for Jharkhand while prioritizing the development of the tribal community, poor, youth and women. We have to make our country 'Viksit' before 2047. India is among the fastest-moving economies in the world... India has performed better than all expectations. The economic growth rate for the quarter of Oct-Dec was 8.4%... For a 'Viksit Bharat', making Jharkhand a developed state is equally important..."

PM Modi said, “Today the Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) Sindri Fertiliser Plant has been inaugurated. I took a resolution to revive this plant. This was Modi's guarantee. In 2018, I came here to lay the foundation stone of this plant. This will provide thousands of opportunities for employment. This is a huge step toward 'Atma Nirbharta'. Every year, around 360 lakh metric tonnes of urea is required in India. In 2014, 225 lakh mt of urea was produced. To fill this gap, India had to import urea... In last 10 years, urea production has become 310 mt..”

After arriving in Jharkhand, PM Modi visited and inspected the Sindri Fertiliser Plant which will be launched shortly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a two-day visit to West Bengal starting Friday. During his visit, he will address two rallies in Arambagh and Krishnanagar and inaugurate various projects worth ₹22,000 crore at separate events.

In Krishnanagar, Modi will address a gathering on Saturday in an assembly segment where Mukul Roy, who defected from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), emerged victorious in the 2021 elections. Meanwhile, Madhusudan Bag, representing the BJP, holds the assembly seat in Arambagh.
