New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will on Tuesday meet the family of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was shot dead last month. Moosewala, 28, joined the Congress in December last year and unsuccessfully contested the Punjab assembly elections this year.
Union home minister Amit Shah, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Congress leader Sachin Pilot have been among the top politicians who earlier met Moosewala’s family.
Mann’s government faced criticism for scaling down the security of Moosewala and 423 others before the murder. Moosewala’s family and the Congress have been demanding a probe by a central agency into the killing.
Eight sharpshooters are believed to have been identified as Moosewala’s killers as the probe continues into the murder. A CCTV image is also doing the rounds in which the singer is purportedly seen taking selfies with some people, two of whom allegedly informed the shooters just after the singer left the spot.
