• Elections were held for the remaining seats in the Upper House of Parliament: 10 in Uttar Pradesh, four in Karnataka, and one in Himachal Pradesh.
• In Karnataka, the Congress won all three seats it contested in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, while the Bharatiya Janata Party bagged one seat. Congress candidates Ajay Maken, Dr Syed Naseer Hussain, and GC Chandrashekhar won with 47, 46, and 46 votes respectively, as reported by ANI. On the other hand, BJP candidate Narayana Bandage won the lone seat for the saffron party.
• Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan secured the Rajya Sabha seat in the Congress-ruled state. Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu alleged that several MLAs were being “kidnapped” by the CRPF and Haryana Police, as five to six MLAs were seen reaching Panchkula.
• In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP won eight out of 10 Rajya Sabha seats for which the election was held on Tuesday while the other two were bagged by the Samajwadi Party.
