Union Human Resource minister Kapil Sibal and actor Aamir Khan are in sync these days. Their thoughts about education system in India are similar.

"My thoughts on education system reform are aligned with Aamir's. Though I would say that my opinion was formed much before 3-Idiots came," the Sibal said when asked how far his concept on education reform were in line with Aamir's perspective.
"At present 12 of 100 students reach college. This ratio has to be increased manifolds by 2020 when we can aim for 100 per cent literacy and a critical mass of youth going to college. We are catering with 500 universities and 5000 colleges but at least 700 universities and 35,000 colleges have to be added by 2020 to give equal opportunity to all," he said.
The minister who was at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University to attend a function on Sunday said people don't even know the difference between a university and a college. Where a college has at its heart the process of learning at university one has to take challenge for creativity.
"Commerce and physics syllabus can be completed at a college but at a university one has to inculcate the habit of accepting challenge and not rote learning. A university should be allowed to survive on the basis of research initiatives," he said while stressing change in education system is a must.
Taking the dialogue further the minister justified the concept of abolishing deemed university and said, "There has to be a clear identity whether an institution is a college or a university."
Defending reservation policy the minister said if India is seen as a family there has to be a support system for the weak members so that they too get opportunity.
Later, interacting with the media Sibal commented on various issues.
On Amit Shah:
Congress has nothing to do with the CBI naming former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah as an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. Congress has not made Shah an accused. The CBI has filed the chargsheet and made Shah an accused so he should follow the legal course.
On the BJP giving clean chit to Shah:
Every leader in the BJP is doing so. But the major issue is whether the court would gives a clean chit or not. We are in the government but do not know much. The BJP are outside but they know more than us.
On changes in Madarsa education:
I have never said that there will be a change in the Madarsa education system. I have always said it is a system of Majhabi Taleem how can RTE touch this system.
On problems in implementation of Right To Education:
The states should come up and say before their people that they can not give education unless central government provides funds.
