Dust has not yet settle on the FIR issue of Samajwadi Party MP Amar Singh, that a storm rises in the state-over 'victimisation' of Congress Dalit MP, PL Punia.

Punia, 64, led by UP Congress Committee (UPCC) president, Rita Bahuguna Joshi declared fight against Mayawati over the issue. They said that they would not only give an apt legal reply but also make public a list of all the Congress persons victimised under the present BSP government. The list would come out in a week.
"Everyone knows how close a bureaucrat I was to the chief minister Mayawati during her previous tenure. She turned apprehensive the moment I entered politics. Annoyance at the way, I usurped BSP's Dalit vote bank which is the triggering factor behind the attempts to harass me through an old loan default case of the time when I was managing director of PICUP (Pradeshiya Industrial Cooperation of UP)," said Punia, who had retired as state's chief secretary few years ago.
Punia said that the case was already investigated twice under two different governments and his name did not figure anywhere in the original FIR or the two chargesheets. The original case is of seven companies who have defaulted on total loan of Rs 5 crore that they took from PICUP.
"But the present government is hell bent on putting my name in FIR and now its Economic Office Wing attempts to revive the case. If an investigation has to be made against me, then, an agency that is not under the state government should do it. Not the state's EOW," said Punia.
He said that it was on record that he was the MD of the PICUP from 1989 to 1991. And the companies that have defaulted paid back the loan amount with interest in installments till 1992, that is even a year after he left the post.
Bahuguna said: "BSP government has only two works-construction of monuments and victimizing leaders and members of opposition parties. She does not spare anyone be it Mulayam or me. FIRs were being filed against Opposition leaders and parties' workers at the behest of BSP leaders or workers. And police promptly files them, but when general public goes to police for FIRs, the are refused."
Before this a 'money laundering' FIR against Amar Singh by a person close to BSP government officers hogged the headlines. And the FIR is one of the issues against which the Samajwadi Party is holding statewide agitation against the government on Monday.
