BJP in its manifesto for the Himachal Pradesh elections has promised laws to ban religious conversions and to make the state self-reliant besides other benefits. The manifesto, however, does not have any mention about the issue of corruption.
Besides promising to ensure a legitimate share in power projects under the Bhakra-Beas management, BJP has also vowed to extend a string of benefits if it comes to power.
It has promised to establish Rohroo-Parwanoo and Una-Mandi economic zones, construct express highways with tunnels to link Jubbal with Kothai and Una with Belaspur, set up satellite towns and develop tourist hot spots, educational institutions and markets.
Other prominent promises include ensuring solutions to public complaints within 45 days and posting a woman police officer at every district head-quarter. It has also promised jobs to all the unemployed who are registered with employment exchanges by 2008.
The manifesto also promises a medical college in Mandi and an engineering college in Shimla.
