Six persons, including the son of the Chaudhary Charan Singh University Registrar, were arrested in Agra after a police team found an "evaluation centre" in a house in the city's Lawyers Colony, where minors and some youth were checking answer sheets of professional courses including BBA, BCA, BPT, Law from various institutes affiliated to the Chaudhary Charan Singh University.

While some of those checking the sheets were class fifth or sixth students, the rest were graduates. That’s not all, none, according to the police were competent to check the answer sheets.

The bogus evaluators were being paid Rs. 6 to 10 for each answer sheet. The racket had been going on for a long time, said police. Police said the criteria for marking seemed to be the size of the answer as well as the quality of the diagrams.

Some sheets had tick marks, but no marks apparently as the "evaluator" was unsure about the marks "negotiated". The police said R.P. Singh, son of B.L. Arya the Registrar of the CCS University, was the brain behind the racket.
Singh, a research scholar at the Khandari campus in the Agra University, had reportedly given the answer sheets to Parli Baijnath alias Ravi, who got four others to check the answer sheets.

Ravi said he used to get Rs 10 for giving marks in each sheet, the police said. Ravi disclosed that R P Singh had got a contract to evaluate a lakh answer sheets in Meerut.

The police said they recovered about 10,000 answer sheets from the house, while more answer sheets of the CCS University were dumped elsewhere in Agra. About 2,000 answer sheets of professional courses were found from a field in a Fatehpur Sikri village.

Villagers said they had been thrown out of a moving Maruti Van. Most of the answer sheets were of MBA and LLB courses. More surfaced in the Patholi area. Evaluation in-charge of the Charan Singh University Prof S N Rai said he was "shocked" to learn about the scandal. He said he would probe how the answer sheets had reached Agra.
