Haryana willing to transfer case to CBI: CM Hooda
Bhupinder Singh Hooda says that the state Govt is willing to transfer the investigation into the Gurgaon kidney racket to the CBI if the Centre desires, reports Navneet Sharma.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said that his government is willing to transfer the investigation into the Gurgaon kidney racket to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) if the Centre desires.
"I have not received such a request so far. If the Centre wants a CBI inquiry, we will transfer the case. We have no problems with that ," Hooda told Hindustan Times when asked about his response to Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss's statement that his ministry would seek a CBI inquiry into the kidney transplant racket.
The Union Health Minister had earlier said in New Delhi that since the racket involved multiple states and cities such as Mumbai, Noida and Gurgaon, his ministry would soon request the CBI to undertake a detailed investigation.
Meanwhile, the state government has also decided to probe the failure of the local police to detect the global kidney transplant racket being run from Gurgaon for almost a decade. Highly-placed sources said an officer not less than the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) would look into the failure and other lapses of the police in the matter.
Hooda had on January 26 said that the police failed miserably in detecting the nefarious activities carried out at the Sector 23 house in Gurgaon for the past several years.
"I admit that we have failed. It is a failure of the administration and even the society," Hooda had told reporters after attending the Republic Day ceremony in Gurgaon.
City Police Commissioner Mohinder Lal, too, had conceded that the local police failed to keep tabs on the happening at the two houses. The kidney transplant racket was busted by the police on Thursday. A doctor, four agents and five clients, including some foreigners, were detained. Dr Amit Kumar, who is the alleged kingpin, is yet to be arrested.
