Graduating with an MA and MPhil, Selja Kumari, is a Congress Party candidate from the constituency of Sirsa in Haryana. Later on she went on to work as an Agriculturist, Political and Social Worker. Born in Chandigarh on the 24 September 1962, Kumari pursued her studies at the Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Kumari spends a lot of time campaigning for the eradication of illiteracy, particularly in poor rural areas. As well as this she travels around South Asia to highlight the plight of developmental issues in the third world. She enjoys reading literacy, listening to music and traveling. A keen follower of cricket and tennis, Kumari is also a member of the Tennis Club.
