At present the leader of Himachal Congress Legislature Party, Virbhadra has been a four-time MP and the state chief minister for 12 years.

A scion of Himachal Pradesh's one of the most respected royal families, Virbhadra Singh today stands tallest among the stalwarts of state Congress.

At present the leader of Himachal Congress Legislature Party, Virbhadra has been a four-time MP and the state chief minister for 12 years.

Son of Raja Sir Padam Singh of Bushehar, Singh was educated in Bishop Cotton School at Shimla and St Stephen's College, New Delhi. An honorary captain of Indian Army, he is most widely respected mass leader of Congress in Himachal Pradesh.

His detractors dislike him for his 'feudal temperament' and 'inflexible style of functioning'. But everyone admires his charisma and experience. Even at 69, SIngh exudes indomitable energy.

Dhumal government had levelled corruption charges against him but CBI has given a clean chit to him in most of the cases.
