The sleuths are sure to ask him why he met the fugitive don and whether it has to do with Rajan gang’s operations. On May 18, Rajan, along with six gang members, checked into Hotel Victoria Jung Froo in Interlakan, a tourist destination and preferred Bollywood location. Dipak joined him later after which the brothers and Rajan’s chelas have been criss-crossing Swiss tourist destinations.
Rajan apparently has booked five suites on the top floor. Travel guides have been hired to take `Nana’ and his men around the city. “Nana is seen in jovial spirits. He dresses himself in suits and a fashionable cap,” said the source. Of course, not to forget gold jewellery “worth Rs 20 lakh”.
The source added: “The country boys are living it up like ‘pucca’ sahibs.” Rajan apparently has a lot to discuss with his ‘estranged’ brother whose Adishakti Films had produced Vaastav, which is believed to be a page from Rajan’s autobiography. But his gang, as joint commissioner of police Meera Borwankar has maintained, suffered heavily “last year because of sustained action by the Crime Branch”.
According to a crime branch officer, “Rajan wants to sort out the mess his gang is in. The arrests of Rajan’s Pune-based brother Prakash and his wife Sujata, who have been charged under the MCOCA, have hit the gang’s operations in Mumbai’s real estate and extortions.”
Sujata has been handling some of the gang’s activities while D.K. Rao, now incarcerated at Arthur road jail, has been looking after the ‘hardcore’ tasks. The rapprochement is unexpected because, when Dipak contested the parliamentary polls as an independent from Chembur, Rajan had reportedly disowned him. “At top hotels, Rajan gets all the facilities he needs at a price; the security is good and they can use the hotel’s transportation,” said an intelligence officer.
