Sheena Bora murder case: Police unearth complex money trail

The police believe money was one of the motives for Sheena’s murder, along with her relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, her step-brother, which Indrani did not approve of.

Armed with financial documents handed over by Peter Mukerjea and others seized from his home, the Khar police claim to have unearthed a complex money trail allegedly between Indrani Mukerjea and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, who are accused of murdering Indrani’s daughter Sheena Bora. Indrani, according to a police source, used as many as 14 credit cards in these transactions, involving her accounts in India and the UK.

The police believe money was one of the motives for Sheena’s murder, along with her relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, her step-brother, which Indrani did not approve of.

The police are presently questioning two businessmen from Kolkata – believed to be associates of Sanjeev – to find out more about the money trail. They are trying to find out if Sanjeev received any money – directly or indirectly – for participating in the crime. They are also looking for the bills of the credit card used to buy various articles for the murder, including two suitcases.

A source said the police believe that Indrani manipulated records and have found three important emails from her account, dated March 8, 2012, May 4, 2012 and August 7, 2012. After Sheena’s murder, Indrani went to the UK, from where she sent emails to Peter, Vidhie (her daughter with Sanjeev) and her son Mikhail, in which she pretended to be Sheena, the source added.
