Keeping the adage alive, this year’s Fool’s Day was no different. People laughed about themselves, society, politics, politicians and the problems they would face. Laughter was the ‘order of the night’ which saw prime minister of Moorkhistan, a donkey, inaugurating the Ghongha Basant Sammelan on Saturday.
The serious message behind the whole festival was also evident when poets raised sensitive issues in jugular vein. To bring cheers, the organisers gave away ‘Moorkha Ratna’ award to seven people including Madan Lal Khurana, Brinda Karat, Arjun Singh, retd Justice US Banerjee, Kiran More, Greg Chappel, Lal Krishna Advani and Central Bureau of Investigation.The day saw many young poets coming of age through their creations at Ravindralaya auditorium. Poets like Rafique Sadani, Tej Narain Bechain, Ras Behari Gaud set the tone for the night.
