Additional superintendent of police (traffic) Shivdayal Singh said, “In case of heavy crowd situations, vehicles would be stopped on satellite towns established on six major roads from where city buses and mini vans would ferry pilgrims to parking spots near the fair.”

These four-seater e-rickshaws would pick the dependent passenger and a family member from the parking spots and take them to places inside the fair where movement of other vehicles is prohibited. The service would be available round-the-clock.

“Over 400 minibuses and 1000 mini vans have been put for public transport,” said Singh.

Traffic plan during the fair in Ujjain state that areas such as Mahakal temple, Barnagar road and Mangalnath road will witness peak crowd pressure and therefore, are declared no-vehicle zones. Pilgrims have to walk for around 2-3 kilometres to tour camps of prominent seers and ghats.

District incharge minister Bhupendra Singh said the eco-friendly facility would help needy.

A fare charge ranging from Rs10 to Rs 20 according to different destinations has been fixed.
