The sadhu-saints in Simhastha fair have started losing their temper, as the assurances given by the officials over incomplete work in their camps are yet not fulfilled.
The angst of the saints has forced them to use of abusive language and threaten with indecent gestures. The camp for Swami Hansanand ji and his followers lacked basic facilities such as toilet and water and despite several complaints no one paid heed to it.
When the agitating saint sat on a fast, sector magistrate Rakesh Sharma went to meet him but was forbidden from leaving the camp till all the complaints were sorted out.
It was only after the additional commissioner at Indore municipal corporation MPS Arora reached the spot and arranged for 10 modular toilets in the camp, that the magistrate was freed.
MP Saint Samiti also protested in Mangalnath area over similar problems of toilets and water availability in their camps. Shreemahant Bhagwangiri threatened if things did not improve in two days, they would tie langot (loincloth) to officials.
A senior official admitted that saints are angered over ill arrangements and their temper might result in unpleasant incidents.
Meanwhile, Akhara Parishad president Narendra Giri said, “It’s true that lack of facilities is there but the administration is working round-the-clock to solve them. Such indecency cannot be the culture of saint community.”
Incharge minister Bhupendra Singh said availability of amenities is being checked in all camps and any shortcomings are being completed.
The Simhastha fair will begin on April 22 and conclude on May 21.
