AP Singh is also the lawyer of the accused in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case, and is known for making controversial statements.

Several leaders of various Rajput outfits were also named in the FIR.

“Provocative speeches were made at the rally which resulted in damage of public property and attacks on the police,” Reddy said.

Police have booked all the accused under 21 offences, including rioting, rioting armed with deadly weapons, unlawful assembly, wrongful confinement, kidnapping and sexual harassment.

Anandpal Singh was gunned down on June 24 in a police encounter in Churu district after which his family had refused to cremate his body, demanding a CBI enquiry.

In the violence that had ensued during the tribute rally in Ananpal’s native village Sanvrad in Nagaur, mob had set fire to a railway station and also the vehicle of the district superintendent of police besides allegedly assaulting the SP and misbehaving with a woman IPS officer. Several police personnel were injured in the attacks.
