Even as the prosecution pleaded for an arrest warrant against Shilpa, hearing in the matter was deferred till May 26. Gere, meanwhile, might now be summoned through the Ministry of External Affairs or high court.
The trial court was informed that while no communication had yet been received on the summon sent to Shilpa, the warrant against Gere had been returned by the Jaipur police, saying they could not trace the actor.
The two are accused of committing an “obscene act” by kissing in public during an HIV/AIDS awareness event on April 15.
