Senior KKR executive Jeet Banerjee said in Kolkata: “The association between KKR and Lux Cozy has been put on hold, keeping in mind the people’s sentiments.”
“There will be no merchandising in and around Eden Gardens when KKR plays in Kolkata. The Lux Cozy logo (will not feature) on the trousers of KKR players. All hoardings and advertisements are being put on hold,” Banerjee said.
On February 20, Hindustan Times reported that people in Kolkata were growing resentful of KKR’s association with Lux Cozy.
The resentment is because Todi is alleged to have a hand in 'abetting' the suicide of his son-in-law, Rizwanur Rehman (30), a computer graphics teacher.
Rehman, who had married Priyanka Todi (23), committed suicide in Kolkata in late 2007.
It was alleged that the Todi family forced the husband and wife to separate.
