  • Mechanical toys - the ones that are designed to look like small rodents will keep your cat entertained for hours on end. Most of these toys are battery-operated and attract your furry friends with their unpredictable movements as they zig-zag across the floor. Try placing obstacles in the toy's way to increase its erratic movement and make it even more entertaining for your cat.
  • Play hide-and-seek - try hiding one of your kitty's toys under a blanket or a cardboard box and watch them trying to uncover the hidden treasure. If you attach the toy to a string and wiggle it under the blanket or the box, things will get really funny.
  • Blow bubbles - you can do this outside, in a safe enclosed area, or indoors and make sure to always use a non-toxic bubble solution. Your cat will try chasing the bubbles and popping them, which will count as a good physical workout as well.
  • Cat food puzzles - cats are natural foragers so keeping them inside all the time can cause some unwanted behavioural and health problems. Fortunately, new research shows that food puzzles can help prevent such issues by feeding your cat's hunter spirit and keeping her engaged and on the move at the same time.
  • Set up a food treasure hunt - place treats in hard-to-reach, but safe, spots in your home and watch your cat trying to retrieve them. This kind of activity keeps their senses sharp and their stomachs full, they'll love it!
