Lok sabha elections 2019: Men-to-women turnout ratio better in city

It is 55.87 % and 54.67 % respectively in the city. The average men and women voter turnouts in the state stand at 62.57% and 58.84% respectively.
The ratio of men to women voter turnouts was much better in the city, compared to other areas in the state.

It is 55.87 % and 54.67 % respectively in the city. The average men and women voter turnouts in the state stand at 62.57% and 58.84% respectively.
In the 2014 elections, 52.14% of men had voted against the women’s voter percentage of 50.83 % in the city. At the state level, the male and female voter percentages last time were 62.71% and 58.11%.
The transgender voter turnout in the state was 27.77%, against its 2014 average of 12.25%. “This improvement [women’s voter turnout] is because of the awareness created by the social media,” said an official from the state poll body.
Sharad Kumar, state coordinator, Association for Democratic Reforms, said, “The turnout in the city was high this time and it may be attributed to the enthusiasm among young and first-time voters.”
