32-year-old killed in Mumbai road mishap; tanker driver held

According to the police the incident took place at around 3.20pm near the Mumbai University.

A 32-year-old woman was killed on Wednesday afternoon in a road accident in Santacruz (East) on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) road. A 24-year-old tanker driver has been arrested.

According to the Vakola police the incident took place at around 3.20pm in Kalina near the Mumbai University.

The tanker was moving towards Kurla when it ran over the woman while she was crossing the road. The deceased is identified as Chandini Vishwakarma and was a resident of Saath Rasta.

The impact of the accident was such that the woman died on the spot, the police have said.

She was taken to VN Desai hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

The accused, Mahesh Kumar Shamlal Gautam, 24, has been arrested on charges of causing death due to negligence and will be produced before a magistrate court on Thursday.
