The first incident took place sometime after 7am in Asiyana Bungalow in Siddharth Nagar, Goregaon (West). The complainant, Azad Sharma, 59, said he had left the house for a holiday and returned the next day to find his home burgled. The burglar had broken the lock of the back door and stolen valuables collectively worth Rs6.72 lakh, including gold and silver ornaments, two diamond rings and cash worth Rs2.5 lakh.

The police are checking CCTV cameras in the vicinity and are questioning the security guards deployed nearby to get leads in the case.

A group of NCC who had come to the city from Ahmednagar to take part in the Republic Day parade, were staying at Shankarrao Chavan Hall near Mumbai University. They left their room at around 7.30am and returned at 11.30am. The burglar possibly used a duplicate key to steal nine cell phones and cash worth Rs1.2 lakh.
