After a wait of almost five years the special woman’s court is likely to pronounce verdict in the Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandez murder case, case on Monday. Keenan’s father Valerian Santos told HT, “We have suffered a lot in these years and only punishment to these boys would give us some relief. We know that our son will not come back but we expect his killers to get punished. They should be at least sentenced to life time imprisonment if not death”. He added that the family has faith in judiciary and they would get justice.
On October 20, 2011 Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandez were attacked outside a popular eatery in Amboli when they tried to shield their female friends from a group of eve-teasers. The group had stabbed the two while Keenan died on the same day, Reuben died later on October 30, 2011.
“They should think about victim’s family. We were given promises by then chief minister but everything turned out to be farce. There is a need to change the system. There has to be a room where victim’s family is also heard. However, we have full faith in judiciary and waiting for the verdict in the case now,” Valerian added.
