American heavy metal band Anthrax are going to perform in India for the first time, and the band’s founding member and rhythm guitarist Scott Ian (far right) can’t get over the shock.
“We are not used to doing first time shows anymore. We have done shows at one place so many times that it honestly feels a little excited to perform for the very first time somewhere,” says Ian, 49, who will be performing during the Fly Festival in Noida on February 16.
Having sold over 15 million albums worldwide, Anthrax is dubbed as one of the ‘big four’ bands of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. Ian, who is the only permanent band member, is hopeful that they will be liked by Indian listeners. “We as a band are known for our shows and we thrive on that. I expect the same in India and I want the crowd to go crazy while we are on stage. I hope India becomes just another place where our gigs happen frequently. I want to play in Mumbai next time,” he says.
