Deepak knew Rajeev, a private tutor, and often sought his help with studies, police said.

On Sunday evening, Rajeev got into an altercation with residents of the society over parking his vehicle. He asked Deepak to bring along people for his support.

On Monday morning, Deepak left home for school, but went along with friends to Rajeev’s place to help him.

They got into a tiff with a few residents and one of them fired a bullet which hit Deepak, suspect police. Deepak collapsed.

“Passersby informed the police. He was…in school uniform when he was attacked. He died on the spot,” said Gautam Budh Nagar superintendent of police (rural), Sujata Singh.

Deepak’s friends fled the spot and left him bleeding, police said. Residents informed the police.

“An FIR for murder was registered against unidentified persons following the incident. A team has been constituted to probe the matter. We have got a lead in the case and we are hoping to arrest the culprits soon,” said Singh.

Rajeev is missing, police said.

The body was sent for postmortem. Reports are awaited.

“Once the autopsy is done, we will record the statements of the family of the deceased. We have sought the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the society,” said Singh.

Deepak’s family, residents of Omicron-3, hails from Bihar.
