“Condition of the injured is critical but stable. Sanjeet is on ventilator with multiple fractures. His BP was unstable when he was brought to the hospital, but now we have seen a little improvement. There is a sign of recovery in rest of the injured as well,” said a doctor at the intensive care unit of the Kailash Hospital, Greater Noida.

The accident occurred at around 9.30 am nearly 8 km away from the Zero point, Greater Noida when Harjeet, an MNC employee currently posted in Agra, was travelling with his family in his Mahindra XUV to Chandigarh. Police said he was driving at a very high speed when the front tyre of his SUV burst and the car jumped the divider on the opposite carriageway before turning turtle and hitting another Ford Figo, that Tiwari was driving.

In the accident, Harjot’s wife Navneet Kaur, 36, sister Jasvinder Kaur, 52, daughter Brahmleen, 15 and Sanjeet’s wife Lakshmi Devi, 44, died on the spot. Sanjeet was going to attend at marriage ceremony with his wife while Harjot was returning from a weekend trip to Taj Mahal in Agra.

“The Ford Figo was driven by Army Junior Commissioned Officer Sanjeev Tiwari (46) who was returning from Delhi with his wife Lakshmi Devi (44). The accident left all the women of both the families dead,” said Sujata Singh, superintendent of police (rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.

The accident led three more cars behind Tiwari’s car to collide though their occupants suffered minor injuries, said Singh.
