As the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne kickstarted on Saturday, the evening witnessed the grand opening of the film Ghoomer, with directer R Balki and the star cast in attendance. There will be screenings of over 100 films across 22 languages.

Speaking at the event, Abhishek Bachchan said, “I’m grateful for this platform for the world premiere of our film. Ghoomer is a labour of love. This has been Balki’s dream for a long time. I don’t think there’s any better way of giving back to a game you love so passionately, by making a film dedicated to it."

Kartik Aaryan was also present at the film festival. His film Satyaprem Ki Katha earlier had a fan screening where he had even received a marriage proposal from a girl.

Angad Bedi wore a statement bandhgala for the festival. Reacting to his Ghoomer trailer, his wife and actor Neha Dhupia had written on Instagram, “As this gem of a film premieres tonight @iffmelbourne film festival… wishing the entire cast and crew luck… been a bystander and watched everyone work too hard on this one … knock it out of the park guys. Good luck team #ghoomer @bachchan @saiyami @hopeprodn @r.balki_7 and most importantly my love @angadbedi.
