1. Plan time away with your kids - Whether you stay in your home country and go on a staycation or travel abroad, it’s important to spend quality time with your kids. Share your experiences as a child with your kids, engage in family activities including arts and crafts, or engage in physical activities around the area such as walking, running, or tug-of-war. This will strengthen family bonds as well as enhance creative abilities amongst children – whether it’s through physical or creative activities. (Photo by Adam Winger on Unsplash) expand-icon View Photos in a new improved layout

3. Encourage your kids to read - Use the summer period when your kids are not preoccupied in school activities or homework to instil in them the love for reading. Whether you read stories for them or encourage them to do it themselves, getting into a fictional space away from their day-to-day will make their imagination go. They will get introduced to different concepts and ideas, and visualise characters and scenarios based on the books they read which will release their creative juices. (Image by Diana Cibotari from Pixabay ) expand-icon View Photos in a new improved layout

4. Create a summer scrapbook or journal - Use the summer vacation to engage in activities with your kids that don’t require the use of gadgets. Children spend enough time using gadgets at school and during the academic year, devoting time to other activities would be beneficial for them. Build a scrapbook with your kids to include pictures, souvenirs, and memorabilia from your summer vacation. Encourage your kids to start a journal or build on the one they already keep. Journaling is said to help mentally as it captures ideas, helps people self-reflect, as well as helps overcome problems and fears. (Photo by Gabe Pierce on Unsplash ) expand-icon View Photos in a new improved layout
