International Women's Day 2024: International Women's Day 2024: Polycystic ovary syndrome, also referred to as PCOS, is the condition where the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of Androgen, and small cysts form in the ovaries. Menstrual irregularity, excess hair growth, acne and obesity are some of the symptoms of PCOS. Insulin resistance is common in PCOS. "So many of us PCOS girlies are insulin resistant; our bodies can make insulin but can’t use it effectively, seriously increasing our risk for type 2 diabetes and giving us symptoms like fatigue and sugar cravings," wrote Dietitian Cory Ruth.
