Often parents get so busy and involved in the process of bringing up their kids that they forget to take care of themselves. When this happens for a prolonged period of time, it can lead to the feeling of burnout and frustration. "Parental burnout often shows up as feelings of overwhelm, irritability, detachment, and a decreased sense of accomplishment in your parenting. Over time, chronic stress can leave you feeling disconnected from how you feel and what your needs are," wrote Therapist Carolyn Rubenstein.
