Masking anxiety can be an extremely difficult process. When we feel that our emotions are not worthy of sharing, we try to hide our anxiety with other emotions. However, anxiety always shows up. Addressing this, Therapist Amber Smith wrote, "Masking anxiety can be so distressing and impact our lives in multiple ways. The more we resist, the worse it may seem to be. Addressing the root of our anxious symptoms and finding new ways to cope may provide relief so that we can stop being controlled by our anxiety."
