On the occasion, different types of celebrations are held. The Sikh youth perform Gatka during a ‘nagar kirtan’ organised on the occasion. Guru Arjan Dev, fifth of the 10 Sikh Gurus, compiled the Guru Granth Sahib on the bank of Ramsar sarovar (one of the five holy tanks of Amritsar) in the vicinity of the Golden Temple with the help of his devoted disciple Bhai Gurdas.
