- Bhupendra Patel was sworn in as Gujarat's 18th chief minister in Gandhinagar on Monday afternoon, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Smriti Irani, and Rajnath Singh, as well as leaders of states ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the chief minister's oath, and also oaths of the 16 newly elected MLAs who will form the chief minister's 2.0 cabinet. The BJP won a record 156 seats in the 182-member House in the recently concluded Gujarat assembly election, with counting taking place on December 8.
