According to the jail authorities, 33 terrorists have been shifted on Wednesday and seven prisoners on Thursday.
The jail authorities are expecting that more terrorists or prisoners might be shifted by the evening.
The jail here is already overcrowded and number of prisoners is more than double than the capacity.
As per the jail authorities, at present the jail was accommodating 1,283 prisoners against the capacity of 550. Now after the shifting of 40 terrorists, the jail authorities have vacated a separate cell for them, by adjusting some prisoners to other cells.
“Yes, all 40 terrorists have been shifted to a separate cell”, deputy jail superintendent Hardeep Singh Bhatti, told the Hindustan Times adding that: “Despite some minor problems, we will manage as we have to accommodate them also until the further orders.”
On the security arrangements for them, he said: “We have made all arrangements for these new guests and security has been beefed up.”
