Ancestral village recollects veteran actor Pran's lineage

Veteran actor Pran's stay at his ancestral village Bharowal in Hoshiarpur district might have been short, but he did pay a tribute to the place by identifying himself as a native of this village in one of his movies.
In the film, 'Lakhon mein ek' released in 1971, Pran portrayed the role of a truck driver and introduced himself as Sher Singh from the village of Bharowal, post office Sailakhurd, district Hoshiarpur.
He never returned to the village after joining the film industry, but through that one dialogue, he did weave a connect with its people.
Hari Singh, 93, who claims himself to be Pran's childhood buddy, stays at latter's ancestral house. He said he purchased the house from Pran's landlord father, when he migrated to Lahore. Recollecting the last visit of the veteran actor to the village, Hari Singh said: "The last time Pran visited the place was in 1935, when he came for his sister's marriage."
He said that right from his childhood, Pran nourished the dream of becoming an actor."He was a typical village boy, who was naughty but at the same time ambitious who dreamt of making it big in the film industry," Hari Singh said. When informed that the veteran actor was no more now, he felt extremely bad.
