While Kandhola was charged under Section 29/61/85 (abetment of drug smuggling) of NDPS Act, the others were framed under Section 21/61/85 (possessing narcotic drugs). The court fixed January 7, 8 and 9, 2013 for trial.
The Jalandhar police had busted a drug racket in June, following which a special investigation team's (SIT) probe led to the house of Sukhwinder Singh alias Laddu, resident of Chak Singha village in Garhshankar.
Eventually Laddu and eight others, namely Manjinder Singh, Surinder Kaur, Harjinder Singh, Harkawaljit Singh, Arun Kumar, Amandeep Singh and Vanya Khanna were arrested by the Garhshankar police with huge quantity of narcotic drugs.
Chabbewal police arrested Shweta Arora, another accused with 250 grams heroin. Police had claimed that all the accused worked for Kandhola.
On Wednesday, all the accused including Kandhola, who was brought on production warrants from the Tihar jail, were produced in the court.
Maintaining that it would be difficult for the police to bring the accused again and again, the court ordered day-to-day trial for three consecutive days.
