Interacting with the mediapersons, general VP Malik said, that centre government and the ministry of external affairs should intervene to solve the matter of intrusion of China troops. The ministry has to decide the Line of Control (LoC) between China and India to end up the matter amicably.

He said that the controversy between two nations would not affect their business relations. War and business were separate things for both nations, he added.

Malik said India had started retaliation against Pak intruders and militants now but earlier the hitting back was not up to the mark.

Answering a question, Malik, who retired on September 30, 2000, said there had been less possibility of direct intervention of China, if India and Pakistan indulge in a war. He said no nation would like that its soldiers get killed. He said China could supply arms to Pakistan against India, but would not involve directly in the war.

He also said there had been a possibility to cement the rift between India and Pakistan. Diplomacy and effective communication were the tools to settle down the things. General Malik was the chief of India Army during Kargil War. He also won Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Param Vishist Seva Medal for his distinguished services.
