Demoralised officials not acting against Congress workers committing crime: Parkash Singh Badal
The former CM calls on Parmidner Singh Kolianwali, son of SAD Muktsar district chief, who was attacked on Sunday and is now admitted to a Bathinda hospital,
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday slammed the Congress government for the “deteriorating” law and order situation in the state, saying demoralised officials are not acting against ruling party workers committing crime.
Badal had earlier called on Parmidner Singh Kolianwali, son of SAD Muktsar district president Dyal Singh Kolianwali, who was attacked in Malout town on Sunday evening and is now admitted to a private hospital in Bathinda.
Talking to the media, Badal said officials are so demoralised that they are not acting against Congress workers whatever crime they commit. He said the attack on Kolianwali’s son was not sudden, but was expected.
Badal said the security of Kolianwali and his son had been reduced after the Congress formed the government in the state and Kolianwali had raised the matter before the authorities and even talked to the director general of police in this regard.
“Those who attacked Parminder had been openly announcing to eliminate Kolianwali and his son. They are people with criminal background. Such people think that it’s their own government and they can do whatever they want as nobody will act against them,” he said.
Badal, however, hoped that the district administration will do justice in this case.
‘Cong policy is to divide and rule’
The former CM said communal harmony and peace was ensured during the SAD-BJP government, but now the forces which don’t want peace were raising their head in the state. “It is up to the government how to control these forces but the deteriorating law and order is the real worry at present,” he said adding that the Congress has adopted the policy to divide and rule.
Meanwhile, Kolianwali said that his son has only one security guard while he has only two after the Congress government reduced their security, despite their repeated requests for enhanced security.
He alleged that the attack on his son was the result of political vendetta as two of the accused Congress leaders had lost municipal council polls from SAD candidates in Malout.
