Hardip Kumar, a resident of Amma Jattan village, moved about in official circles by claiming that he was a UPSC pass out and was undergoing training in the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Dehradun.

Sources said that he had even asked for police security. His fluency in the English language impressed the officials. A verification from the LBSNAA, however, revealed that he had been bluffing.

"On questioning, he first became offensive but later confessed that he was not an IAS officer", said Garhshankar deputy superintendent of police Gurmail Singh.

"He is Class 12 passout and has been working at a mobile repair shop", the DSP revealed. He said Hardip's father Mohinder Kumar was also involved in two fraud cases and was absconding.

A fake identity card of LBSNAA and 10 letter pads were recovered from his possession. He was produced in a court after registration of a forgery case and was remanded to one day police custody.
