Picked to frame for rape, teacher ends up kidnapped

The accused were aware that the police would take immediate action against the teacher following a complaint of rape. But, they changed their plan when they the teacher agreed to pay money to escape being framed in fake rape case. They the kidnapped him and demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh, but the deal was settled for Rs 10 lakh.

Investigating into the matter, the Division Number 7 police arrested four more members of the gang, including a woman, while another woman accomplice is at large.

The accused said they called on Chamkaur Singh to Guru Arjun Dev Nagar near Samrala Chowk through women members on the pretext of to be friends with them on Friday. The women took him to a vacant house which they had got opened from an area resident on pretext of checking it before taking it on rent.

All gang members overpowered Singh and threatened him that they would forge him in a rape case and demanded Rs 1 lakh from him. Trapped in the conspiracy, Singh immediately agreed to give the money. The accused then changed their decision and kidnapped him. They made him sit in their car and drove to different places.

The kidnappers then called Prakash Singh, brother-in-law of Chamkaur Singh, and demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh, but later settled the deal at Rs 10 lakh.

Prakash Singh made a complaint to the police, following which the police arrested three gang members, including Sartaj Singh of Thatha Sahib village of Ferozepur, Pramod Kumar of Raniya of Sirsa (Haryana) and Amrinder Pal Singh of Nathana village of Bathinda, on Friday.

Four more arrested
Following the information provided by the accused the police arrested four more members of the gang - Joginder Singh alias Makkhan of Sirsa, Satwinder Singh alias Sukhbir Singh, Rinki of Tarn Taran and her live-in partner Jagtar Singh of Sirsa, on Sunday. However, gang member Soniya of Barnala is still at large.

Station house officer of the Division Number 7 police station Raj Kumar Choudhary said efforts were on to arrest the absconding gang member.
