The traffic police team towed away around 25 vehicles, including that of trainee IAS woman officer Avneet Kaur and government-provided vehicle of Abdul Shakur Mangat, member of State Commission for Minorities, Punjab.

Annoyed by the police action, Mangat said instead of directly taking action the police should mark the area as no-parking zone and should aware the people about it.

However, the woman officer has made a complaint to a senior administration officer about the police action.

During the drive, the traffic cops, however, spared the wrongly parked vehicles in front of the police commissioner office. The sudden action of the traffic police has created fear among the drivers of officers' vehicles. The driver of additional district transport officer (ADTO) suddenly fled the spot along with the vehicle that was wrongly parked in front of the DTO office. He returned after around two hours when the traffic cops and recovery vehicles had left the mini-secretariat.

The traffic wing kicked off the drive under the leadership of ACP (traffic) Naveen Singla. The police team with three recovery vehicles entered into the mini-secretariat complex and started towing-away vehicles that were parked outside the district administration and DTO block.

On finding that the number of wrongly parked vehicles were more than their expectations, the police called three more recovery vehicles. The police have also warned the officials who park their vehicles in the no-parking zone.

ACP (traffic) Naveen Singla said the wing had taken the action without any discrimination. He said he was not aware about the wrongly parked vehicles at the police commissioner office, but the traffic wing would take action against violation, if they found any. He said the wing would enhance action in outside the court complex and police commissioner office also. He cleared that the recovery vehicles, pressed into the job, would tow-away every vehicle that was wrongly parked, creating hurdles in the easy flow of traffic, no matter if the vehicle belongs to an officer.
