Raikot SAD chief among 4 held for fraud
Raikot police have booked Kulwinder Singh Bhatti, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader of Raikot city, and three others on the charge of forgery. The action was taken following deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal's statement that strict action would be taken against the party leaders who indulged in land grabbing.

The accused had allegedly victimised a woman Bhawandeep Kaur of Raikot, wife of Amandeep Singh, national general secretary of the Youth Akali Dal and president of the Raikot municipal council.
The accused had allegedly duped the woman of Rs 1.6 crore on the pretext of sale of land, but did not transfer the registry of the sold land in her name.
Jagtar Singh and Chand Singh of Raikot and Jagraj Singh of Rajgarh are the co-accused in the case.
The case was registered following an inquiry conducted by Harjit Singh Pannu, SP (detective) in Ludhiana police district (rural), but no arrest has been made so far.
Bhawandeep Kaur had stated in the complaint that she purchased a piece of land on the Seeloani road from Chand Singh. They had duly signed an agreement in this regard and Kulwinder Singh Bhatti, Jagtar Singh, Jagdish Lal Jain and Jugraj Singh had signed as witnesses on the agreement.
Bhawandeep Kaur alleged that Chand Singh assured her that as the respective land belongs to his NRI son Harjinder Singh, he would transfer the power of attorney in her name.
According to the complainant, she had paid Rs 10 lakh to the accused while signing the agreement and later she had paid Rs 52 lakh, 62 lakh and 42 lakh in three different installments.
She said as she had trust on Chand Singh, she invested on the land and laid sewerage that costed her Rs 55 lakh to her. Later, she came to know that the accused had executed the power of attorney in the name of Harwinder Singh of Rajgarh from Harjinder Singh. Harwinder Singh is brother-in-law of Harjinder Singh.
Later, Harwinder Singh had signed an agreement of the land with Bhatti, who in connivance with Chand Singh and Jugraj Singh sold some plots from the land that she had purchased from the accused, she alleged.
"No arrest has been made so far, but the police are trying to arrest the accused," Dilbagh Singh, SHO of the Raikot police station.
