Security beefed up in Amritsar ahead of Canadian minister Sajjan’s visit
As high profile visit of the Canadian defence minister Harjit Singh Sajjan starts today (on Wednesday) evening, the Amritsar police have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure safety of the dignitary during his visit to the holy city.

Sajjan will land in Amritsar today at 5pm and will be paying obeisance at the Golden temple on Thursday morning at 8: 00am. A high security cover has been laid for the minister at the shrine too.
Sources in the police said that a task force of SGPC will form first ring of security around the minister when he visits the shrine.
there will be security even inside the Sanctum Sanctorum , Akal Takht sahib and in the entire Parikarma, sources said.
Police commissioner Nageshwar Rao informed HT about having a closed door meeting with his police officials where he said duties have already been assigned to everyone.
“Amritsar police would be monitoring the entire city; we would be ascertaining that no untoward incident takes place and for that policing would be done proficiently. There would be no compromise on the security arrangement,” said Rao .
He also said that SSPs and ACPs will personally be on duty.
