According to sources, Gandhi is scheduled to hold the rally in support of Singla on April 26, for which Singla’s aides reportedly approached officials at Barnala, who refused to give permission saying they could not allow the rally as there was no space in the grain market because of wheat procurement.

However, sources close to Singla said the venue of the rally had not been fixed and they intended to organise it on a private property. Singla’s lawyer alleged discrimination by the state government saying, “We talked to authorities about permission for a rally in grain market and they refused.

How come SAD candidate Sukhdev Dhindsa has been allowed to hold a rally featuring the CM at the MC ground at Dhuri?”

Barnala DC Gurloveleen Singh said, “Nobody approached me for permission to hold a rally in the grain market, but as the wheat procurement is underway, we cannot allow the rally here.”

On the alleged discrimination in allowing a rally at the Dhuri MC g round, Sang rur deputy commissioner Kavita Singh said, “One is free to hold a rally on government property, but for this they have to take per mission, which is given on a firstcome first-served basis.”
