System crash cripples PCR operations

Moreover, the system is not being able to save the data also. The police do not have record of calls and information that was received on police control room in the past 10 days.
On average, the Police Control Room receives 1,200 calls in a day. With the system collapsing, the officials on duty are now manually entering all data.
The personnel deputed at police control room have informed the department about it, but, so far, nothing had been done to resolve the things. According to the personnel at control room, the delay could invite untoward situation if it was not addressed timely.
The Ludhiana Police had upgraded the Police Control Room around three years ago and the contract of taking care of the system was assigned to a private company. The contract expired around two weeks ago and the system collapsed around 10 days ago.
A cop on the condition of anonymity said the system developed a technical error and it was unable to record any call received or made which was essential for working of the control room.
The cop added that in the past, the executives of the company that had the contract used to resolve the errors immediately when the system collapsed, but as the contract had been expired, no one came from the company to repair it.
When contacted, police commissioner Pramod Ban said he was unaware about the matter, but would definitely look into it and would get it resolved at the earliest.
