Police have recorded the victim’s statement and arrested a man, who has been identified as Manoj Ravidas. A local police officer said that they have sent the victim to a hospital for medical examination.
“The girl’s father filed a missing complaint at the police station. We came to know that the girl was kept at a brick kiln,” said a relative of the family.
According to victim’s father, Ravidas and his friends kidnapped the girl on June 12 when she had gone out to pick mangoes from a field. According to the statement, the accused gagged the victim’s mouth before raping her inside a car while she was unconscious. They also tried to strangulate her.
Later, Ravidas left the victim near a house as he thought that she had died, said a police officer. Superintendent of police (SP) Ranjit Kumar Prasad said, “We will take strict action against the accused. We are waiting for the medical report.”
Police inspector Dillu Lohar said, “We arrested Ravidas on Saturday. We are on the lookout for his friends.”
