Sunil Linda, who is unable to use either of his hands since birth, is writing his Class-10 exam papers for Jharkhand board with his right leg.
He is the son of a poor labourer residing in Jara Tola Ramgarh, but Sunil is determined to study and aim for a better life. Sunil writes by holding the pen between the big toe and adjacent toe of his right leg, but he is blessed with a good handwriting and speed. “Since I am disabled, I am extra conscious about my studies. I am good in studies and hope to get first division marks in the board exams,” said Sunil, a student of Gandhi Memorial plus-two government school at Ramgarh. “I requested the exam controller to allow me the floor for writing papers. I cannot write over a bench and desk. So they’ve allowed me to write sitting on the floor.”
Sunil is sitting for his exams at Saint Francis School, Kankebar.
“He began writing with his leg since early childhood. He is very devoted and wants to study further,” said his father Sukra Linda, who accompanies Sunil to the exam centre.
“But we are very poor and cannot afford to send him for higher education. We request the government to help in his higher studies.”
