The Anjuman Millate Muslimin Committee submitted an application to Ramgarh police inspector GP Tiwari on Tuesday to take strict action against those selling and transporting prohibited meat.
Chief minister Raghubar Das had said in March that the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 2005, would be strictly enforced.
State animal husbandry secretary Pradip Kumar had said in May that deputy commissioners had been asked to enforce the Act strictly. The state animal husbandry department had recently joined an NGO’s rally urging people to turn vegetarian.
“Humanity and brotherhood are important for all. We do not favour the sale of prohibited meat,” said Md Farulk Sadar of the committee.
“We boycott the people who sale or transport the prohibited meat. No one has the right to hurt the faith of any community. We all are Indians and should follow the law,” said Anzuman secretary Ezaz Ahmad.
