With a two-fold aim of promoting Delhi talent and spreading a social message, Fever 104 FM’s popular RJ Khurrafati Nitin has decided to turn filmmaker. His debut short film Smile - You Are Dead, that releases today on Youtube, aims to spread awareness about the rampant drug abuse among the youth.
“The film is about drug abuse, which is on a steep rise among the youngsters and how it affects them physically, mentally and emotionally,” says Nitin, who also turned cameraman for the film. His brother, Raul Brady is the director and also the male lead in the film. The film, which talks about the synthetic drug Smile, revolves around the life of a boy who orders the drug online as he hosts a party and subsequently falls into trouble because of it. Says Nitin, “The young boy gets entangled in drug abuse, orders it online for his friends and when things turn bad — he gets blamed and punished for it.”
The 19-minute film mostly stars young theatre actors and provides a platform for new talent to get noticed. “It remains the endeavour of Khurrafati Nitin Productions to always try and encourage new acting talent. We hope the film gets the right response considering the immense effort of these youngsters,” feels Nitin.
