]The Hockey World Cup 2023 is in its 15th edition and will be played in India. The country won its hosting rights in November of 2019 and received automatic qualification. The Pool draw took place in September last year. Belgium are the defending champions, who won the 2018 World Cup by defeating the Netherlands 3-2 in the final via penalty shootout, whereas Australia took the third place.
